Like Sparrow, McCoy climbed out of the MiG-29 cockpit feeling better about the F-16, especially its automation. "The biggest instrument in the MiG-29 cockpit is the clock," McCoy said. "It took me a while to understand this. But a large clock is needed to keep track of the time after launching a missile. When they launch a missile, they have to consider their shot range and the type of missile they are shooting and estimate how long it will take to impact before firing. When they take a five-mile Alamo shot, for example, they have to calculate mentally the time required for the missile to reach its target so their radar can illuminate it for the duration. They fire and watch until they know when they can turn away. That procedure is a real disadvantage if they're flying against someone who shot a missile at them at about the same time.

Som intressant curiosa kan nämnas att vanliga människor har relax-focus vid 6m (plus minus ett par) medans piloter (även kommerciella) har det vid runt 20.

Intressant. Visste jag faktiskt inte... förklarar varför man i början inte ser ett flygplan även om man vet att himlen är full!

SI är fräckt, kan inte fatta att vi inte har det i alla bilar redan. De i flygplan är svindyra, men det är egentligen inte så avancerad utrustning så nog kunde det bli kompakt och billigt. Vanlig analog upplyst mätare, två speglar och lite optik för att fokusera om bilden...

Läste för ett tag sen om ett gäng J39 som var nere och mötte samma gossar.
Det var oxå väldigt intressant - jag har för mig att det skrevs om mötet på den tyska divisionens hemsida. Nån som kommer ihåg länken ?

Är det ett riktigt SI? Sett en del varianter där informationen speglas upp men utan att ha fokuseringen. Liten vinst, ger mer med en omfokuserad display i panelen då tycker jag, typ siktet för Rb05...

Har faktiskt bara vetat om den, aldrig brytt mig om att söka bilder. Fann denna från 2000 års modell av "värstingen" Z06
Verkar tyvärr om klantarna har fokus på SI i samma plan som de vanliga mätarna... Klantar! Fast i en "review" av samma bil står detta:

The Z06 gets unique trim on the
instrument panel, and the GM ``head-up'' (HUD) display is
standard this year. Like its counterpart in a fighter jet, the HUD
projects an image of important instruments on the windshield in
front of the driver, just below the main field of vision, so the
driver's eyes don't have to move and refocus
