fng2k from the Gunship! Helipad just announced a huge breakthrough in modding Gunship that should leave the door open to some major new mods and maybe even a new .EXE. Here's the news in his own words...
I've just had an amazing exchange of emails with one of the original Gunship (and EAW) development team. He's been very helpful in the past; in fact many of the mods so far resulted from his advice.
I was faced with a huge job of figuring out the fields definitions in the newly discovered data tables in the gunship.exe file. In desperation, I sent him an email and some info, and some broad questions.
What I got back is incredible.
He sent me a laboriously enhanced spreadsheet naming ALL the parameters in the tables defining Platoons, Vehicles, and Weapon specs! This is a HUGE anount of information, giving us an ability to customize Gunship (and M1 Tank Platoon 2!), at the code level that we've never had before. And it identifies several values that will lead to understanding other tables, which wuill lead to even more possibilities.
It must have taken him many hours to do. Incredible generousity. (I think I can name him publicly now, but I'm just waiting for confirmation before I do.)
