Then the developers even take much further steps in restricting what players can do. You only have a limited amount of graphics options, not even a mission builder yet, and then to top it off, you're forced to grind to gain XP to unlock certain armaments that are part of the planes load out. No longer can you just fly around with a buddy and do whatever you want. The devs are actually forcing you to play the most boring lifeless set of missions ever introduced into a flight sim just to get those XP points and "unlocks" for your plane.
What in the f*** happened to these people? IL-2 was the greatest brand in history of combat flight sims. This "game" is worst attempt at anything I've ever seen with regards to what flight sim fans want.
You get a boring, lifeless world. Take away all user options, difficulty settings, graphics settings. Don't give the player the ability to choose what he wants to do with his free time. And then force them to get some weapons and unlocks by grinding through a set of the most atrocious, stabbing your eye balls out, set of single player missions known to man. But not only do you do all that.. Oh wait.. There's more! You then take away the player's ability to at least use time compression and autopilot to try and get through that crap as fast as possible.

DUXFORD, UK, September 11th, 2014 – DCS: Strait of Hormuz map coming in winter 2014.
The Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics are pleased to announce that DCS: Strait of Hormuz map will be coming to DCS World in the winter of 2014. This will be the first, new combat theatre maps for DCS World 2!
The DCS: Strait of Hormuz map is the strategic choke point between the oil-rich Persian Gulf and the rest of the world. Flanked by Iran to the North and western-supported UAE and Oman to the south, this has been one of the world’s most potentially dangerous flash points for decades. The region also includes the vast Arabian Sea that is well-suited to combat aircraft carrier operations. Be it from land bases in Iran, UAE and Oman, or from the deck of an aircraft carrier, the DCS: Strait of Hormuz map will offer a wide array combat mission scenarios to prove your mettle.
Key Features of the DCS: Strait of Hormuz Map:
• 390 x 390 km highly detailed map area that centers on the Strait of Hormuz.
• As part of DCS World 2, it will support highly detailed terrain, textures, and buildings.
• Numerous, accurately rendered airbases in Iran, the UAE and Oman.
• Detailed cities such as Dubai and Bandar Abbas with unique buildings.
• “Strong Hold” islands such as Abu Musa and Greater Tunb.
• Iran, the UAE and Oman will be added to the list of DCS World nations.
DCS: Strait of Hormuz map will be released as a separate module that will be available for sale from the DCS e-shop in the winter of 2014.
Another new aircraft coming to DCS World later in 2014 will be the venerable L-39 jet trainer, developed by Eagle Dynamics.

We also plan for this module to include multiplayer front seat / back seat capability. We believe that this feature will add a new dimension of gameplay for this aircraft and several others like the UH-1H, Mi-8MTV2, Hawk, and C-101.
